The tracks were then sent to be professionally remastered via Laced, the record company.
#OLD RUNESCAPE MUSIC PATCH#
The audio team rendered our own tracks from the internal patch editor with sound sets that we best thought represented the in-game tracks. In terms of rendering for digital releases, we did this all in-house too. There's more to come with Darkmeyer's release (but taken a step further with remakes of older tracks using the 2012 MIDI files as a starting point). Incidentally we've also done similar things with the tracks Elven Seed, Roots, and Flutes. That work was a success, and we did the same for Fight of the Basilisk, Jaws of the Basilisk, and Lair of the Basilisk. Some minor modifications were needed since those tracks use instruments which don't exist in Old School, but the modifications were done by a member of the Old School team.

We took the tracks Vanescula, Bloodbath, Conspiracy, and Bait for the release of A Taste of Hope. In-terms of in-game music, we discovered back in 2018 that we could use MIDI files from a RS3 back-up (the same 2012 one we've used for Soul Wars) in Old School. I don't think I need to delve too deep into the nitty gritty, but the key things to note are: I genuinely believe there's some sort of misunderstanding, and I've asked that we get in touch with Rodolfo. I don't want this to be construed as any sort of smackdown. Since this thread appeared I've been able to get some answers about the situation. At least give him CREDIT when you use his hard work and talent FOR PROFIT.

Jagex, this is extremely low of you to take advantage of such talented fans. Sincerely, Rodolfo Ruiz-Velasco (RuneScape Reorchestrated) "

I apologize, but I hope you all understand that this decision is for the best. I am possibly thinking of restricting my uploads to only reworks and re-orchestrations if I can manage this. For example, they released a Song of the Elves album onto Spotify, which uses my own work on the soundbank rendering: Moving forward, I will have to be more cautious about uploading public videos. Thankfully, they only copied the low/original quality renders that I put in a Google Drive archive, but it is still sad that they are using my work again without credit. Lastly, I have figured out a way to render out the Old School MIDI tracks into higher quality audio than heard in game, using their own soundbank instead of custom-made soundfonts. They have also copied and modified my work of fixing broken-sounding MIDI files from my other channel into the game, namely: "Vanescula", "Bloodbath", "Conspiracy", "Bait", "Fight of the Basilisk", "Jaws of the Basilisk", "Lair of the Basilisk". I had to complain on Reddit to get Jagex to fix the Clan Wars song based on what I had provided information-wise to make instrumentation accurate. Secondly, they use my work in Old School RuneScape without crediting me as well. Never responded to me any further, after three messages I had sent.
#OLD RUNESCAPE MUSIC FREE#
The poll went live, albums were released, and I was promised a free album with credits to "RS Orchestra", which was briefly discussed and then suddenly the head of audio (Stephen Lord) had left me on read. We had a call and I provided my knowledge to her and helped revise a poll draft for her based on what I knew about RuneScape Music. I realize I am not the only one being taken advantage of, they even do this to their own employees, as fans also have to constantly ask, "Who composed this/these track(s)?" To give proper credit.įirstly, I was asked to take part in their project of releasing music albums by providing some information to Melisa Bunce from B-Hive Associates Limited, who I am assuming were one of the third-party companies Jagex used to help release music.

This is a personal decision due to my frustration with Jagex - They are using my work without giving credit where it is due. I have taken the difficult decision to take action on protecting the work I have done all these years, on May 10, 2020. They even stole soundstages from his Google drive!Īs you have all probably noticed, my videos are all unlisted on this channel. A popular musician who re-makes a bunch of amazing RuneScape music has decided to unlist his work because Jagex took it, used it for profit (Spotify) and didn't credit him at all, let alone pay him for his work in remastering the tracks! This guy is responsible for stunning track reworks like the ToB tracks (here is one, jagex pls don't steal :) )
